The Camera

Hey guys!

Guess who can afford a new digital camera? Yes, that’s right, me! After months of saving and depriving myself from super spending on things, I can safely say that I’ve finally made it. Although it’s going to leave a dent in my wallet, I’m still super excited. However, I still don’t know which one to buy. I mean it’s not just any camera, it’s the one that’s going to be taking photos for this blog. Basically, and I’m speaking for most of us; when it comes to cameras...it’s like trying to analyse a zebra! You don’t know whether it’s black with white stripes or white with black stripes (wait, was that a relevant comparison?). There’s a type of lens, brand and zooming-whatsit, to look out for. Anyway, I got some much appreciated advice from Young Writers Society when I posted a couple of pictures I took a while ago; but I think my choice will be based on my budget.

So I guess, next time I post, this blog will be following the new line up and I will have a camera. Expect changes on the week of February the 8th. I’ll see ya real soon!

My Solo Act!

Hellooo!

So, I was watching this movie a few days ago and this boy was playing a guitar riff to a legendary rock song (I’m not sure what it’s called, I’ll have to ask my mother). Anyways, what I’m trying to hint is that, I need an electric guitar, stat! OMG, I imagined myself playing that riff in my room or something and just living in the music baby! You know, trailing up and down that fret board with nothing but my fingers and my soul, *sighs*; and knowing what note to play with such electric speed. Oh, this means I have to start saving, because you can’t get a guitar without an amp; what will be the point. The guitar itself does nothing to my budget, but the amp will just rip it to shreds. Then I have to get a DVD with lessons because…well…I’ve been teaching myself how to play the guitar (acoustic), for 2 years now without any aid, and let’s just say- my strumming sucks, big time. I recently bought a DVD though.

I can’t wait to start jamming to Hendrix, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc. First though, I have to learn how to play that riff I saw the kid playing in the movie. I just have to contact my mom first (I’ll have to hum the tune and she’ll have to guess what I’m humming), and then google the TABS and so on. Oh no; I’m competing with an eleven year old. It means I have to get cracking! I’ve already wasted about 9 odd years.

If you’re reading this post and you think I’m totally loony or whatever, I don’t blame you. But sometimes living in the music makes one loony. Imagine yourself on stage or wherever, jamming to Voodo Chile or Stairway to Heaven! There’s something about guitar riffs and solos that makes me gaga! So if you’re one of those like me, go on out there and get yourself that electric love child (guitar), and I’ll see you on the other side of my guitar solo…err…in about several months, that is! Lol

Until we meet again, Rock On!

100 Books in 2011 Challenge!

Hello again. I’ve just joined a club on Young Writers Society called 100 Books in 2011 Challenge! Obviously, I’m going to be compelled to read through 100 books this year; crazy? I know. For those who know me well, I don’t read much...in fact, I don’t read at all; yet I love to write. So, this is the time to stand united with other authors (other members of this club on Young Writers Society), to read 100 books.

So far I’ve gone through two novels. I’ve been proudly following The Confessions of Georgia Nicolson Series by Louise Rennison since last year thanks to a friend who loaned me the first book. So far I’m on book number 8, but I started it a few days ago, so. My segment, which is coming in February, where I review books I’ve read will be contributed to by this challenge as well. I’ll keep a list of all the books I’ve read. I’m so excited.
I’ll keep you posted of course. So ready, set, go...Oh wait, I’ve already started. 2 done, 98 to go!

C ya!

Back to school, back to reality!

Hi

Well, you can’t be on vaca forever, right? So school begins tomorrow and my optimism about the future is running on empty. I saw my registration form the last time and the subjects are just so complex. I mean, I could see it in their names. There is this one Chemistry that I have no idea what it’s called because the name is a short story full of chemical terms! I have a feeling my freshman years were just the tip off the ice berg. I’m not going to complain just yet; but if you hear of Ziggie joining the world of “the young and the loons’” world, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Today’s message is short; have a great first day of school if haven’t had one yet, and be sure to keep smiling and dazing like sunshine J

Until I post again...bye-bye!

Still Waiting

Hello there!

Honestly, is it just me or is there an unwritten law somewhere that says, “one has to queue a lot at university because it’s university”? What I mean is, why is it that whatever event that involves school, it has to be nicely garnished with two million hours of waiting in line for whatever it is you need? I’ve been registering for the past three days now at school and the queuing is just absolutely madness. I don’t know, maybe it’s just my school; but whether it’s registering, buying lunch, going into the library, paying for books! You cannot do all of that without waiting in a long line. I know I said I’d be optimistic this year but all that optimism flew right out of the window, when by back started hurting and my feet were sore. And it’s always very unnecessary; the queuing I mean. The big guys up top always have to wait until there is a problem (many people) and then everything falls apart. They’re too slow, their computers shut down (yeah right). Whew! Anyway, the upside of all of this is that my legs are sore (the thigh area more especially). It’s a good thing because it means I got one heck of a work out. I can barely walk. I think this about covers three days on the tread mill in the gym! There you go, eh; who says I’m not optimistic.

Anyway, this was a bit more of a rant. I feel so much better now. Thanks for listening...eh, reading.

See you later!

Coming Up

Hey.

So it’s the new year; the holidays are over and life is going back to normal...yay! (not). So what are your new year’s resolutions? I’m going to be optimistic this year and less modest. From what I’ve discovered so far in my life is that I’m too modest and it just kills my confidence. I need to start looking doubt in the eye and say, “I am good dammit! I’m excellent and I look good, being excellent.” You know. I’m going to be optimistic and see everything in the bright light. Whatever little thing there is left will fall in between; like joining the gym, meeting new people, trying new things, exploring.

Anyway, Ziggie Talk also has its own resolutions. There are going to be some mighty changes on here. There is going to be a schedule! Yes, a schedule; and within that schedule there will be segments so that I am compelled to post something instead of straying off for weeks on end. So, I’ll start by introducing these segments.

=> What Happened to...
This segment was inspired by the rocktober posts I made. Here I’ll be making various postings about bands or musicians that have gone under the radar. This could be in any genre, from the oldies to the present. Where are they now? This segment belongs to Monday.

=> The Rave Review
In this segment I’ll be reviewing things. These “things” will alternate between books, food and movies. Books because I don’t read much; I really don’t. I plan on completing a novel fortnightly and writing a review on it. By the end of this year I should have a collection of books and a new perspective on reading. In between the book reviews, I’ll say a word on food and movies. I plan to visit a new restaurant every month and comment on what food I ate. Also, I’ll throw in a random movie review; the month will then be complete. This will cover Tuesday.

=> In My Shoes
Wednesday will be the day that profiles various locals. What will happen is that I’ll interview people and get a basic picture of who they are, what they do and why they do it. The purpose of this is to understand the people around us; the little and big people. I’ll write a report on the interviews and this will fill the Wednesday slot.

=> Fashionably Thursday
What happens here is that I’m going to scout for various people who I think are dressed well, take a picture of them and post it here. I’ll have a poster model for this segment as well, who will be featured a lot on most of the pics. I’ll post the pictures of my model every fortnight and then in between post pictures of random people that I spot, who I feel are dressed well or “uniquely”.

=> Random Ramblings
This one belongs to Friday. I’ll be posting the normal ramblings that you’re used to. You know, what ticks me off, what I like, school! Friday will be a normal day for the blog and we can catch up after a hectic week. J

=> Competitions
Now and then I'll throw in competitions and my followers will get to win fantabulous prizes. I will ask random questions about Ziggie Talk or just random general knowledge and the correct answers will win. If there is more than one correct answer, there will be the old fashioned toss!

So, are you excited? I know I am. I can’t wait to meet new people and have fun while writing. These segments will begin in February. I still have to go back to school and register first, get settled in. I hope I don’t disappoint. In the mean time things will be normal and I’ll be posting...well, what I always post.

I’ll see ya soon!
